Adding weight to products

To set up shipping rates based on weight, it's firstly very important that you add weight to each product. To do this, you enter the productcard on your product page and find the field 'Unit weight' - Here you choose the unit type and add the amount. Later on in the process you will see that the setting for weight based shipping is based in 'grams', therefore it's perferred that you enter the products weight, in the productcard, in grams aswell. If you don't enter the weight of the product in the productcard, the system won't recognize how heavy an order is and therefore cannot calculate the shipping amount in the checkout section.

Creating regions

If you already have created regions in your account that you would like to use for our other shipping rate option, you can skip the section below and jump to 'Creating rates';

The first section you will arrive in after clicking on Shipping is regions.

In Turis you define regions by selecting the various countries that essentially make up a shipping region for your business.

A region can vary from being just one country or a group of multiple countries. It very much depends on how your business handles shipping and related shipping costs.

If you have very specific shipping prices for individual countries, then set up each of those countries individually.

On the other hand, if you have a group of selected countries where the shipping prices are the same, then select and add them as one region.

- This could e.g. be all countries within the EU.

Click on "Select countries" and the dropdown will unfold. Here you can choose as many countries you want, for the shipping region you are about to define and set up.

You can either search by the country name or scroll through the various countries, to find the country/countries you are looking for.

When you have found the country you are looking for simply tick the box on the right side to add it to the region you are setting up.

If you are adding multiple countries to the same region, then simply continue until you have all the countries you are looking for in this particular region.

The countries will be added as a two-letter country code.

You can delete and remove a country easily by clicking the little cross next to the two-letter country code.

Once you have found and added the country or countries for the region you are defining, then give the region a name.

You complete by clicking "Save" and the region will be displayed below by its region name.

If you need to add an extra country, delete one, rename the region or delete the entire region, simply click the green "Edit" button.

Adding weight-based rates

After adding the weight to the products and creating your regions; click on “Setting > Shipping > Rates”.

In general, creating shipping rates with “weight” follows the same principle as with prices!

First, choose your preferred region in which you want to create shipping tiers with weight.

When you have selected your region, click on “Weight”.

Now you are able to set the rates for each currency individually. In our example, we will choose “EUR”. If you click "set rates" next to” EUR”, the following window opens.

The shipping amount it based on the maximum total order weight. How that works is explained in the example below:

Max total order weight (g)

Shipping price (exc. VAT)

3000

20

4000

30

5000

40

6000

50

Setting the shipping rates up like the example above means an 0-3000g weight of an order, will have a shipping price of 20 EUR. An order between 3001g and 4000g will then have a shipping price of 30 EUR and so on.

For the buyer, the shipping price will look like this in the order section.
